In a September 2013 email opposing a local mosque, Sauders wrote, “My objection has to do with the 6th Amendment and the security of our city, state and nation. Unfortunately, Islam is unlike other recognized religions, i.e., it is not just a religion but is intertwined with a political ideology, an ideology that goes against the freedoms and liberties of our constitution [sic] and advocates domination and subjugation of non-Muslims.”
