Template Corporate Pledge Uplifting Respect for Arab and Muslim Communities

During the Middle East violence that started in October 2023, CAIR identified a number of statements from corporate leaders that ignored many common diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. CAIR also noted several leaders that threatened students who opted to join our national political debate about Palestinian humanity. The below pledge is offered as a consideration for those who choose to use their corporate platforms to support humanity and oppose bigotry.

“I oppose anti-Arab bias and Islamophobia in my professional and personal life. Because of my belief that bigotry is unacceptable, I pledge to champion a workplace environment that treats individuals of all backgrounds with fairness, dignity, and respect. I will work to eliminate stereotypes and biases within my organization and within the broader corporate world.

“I will lead by example by using my influence to promote dignity, fairness, and respect for all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion. I will seek opportunities to educate myself and others about the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Arab and Muslim communities to American society.”

Defining Islamophobia

CAIR is reissuing our definition of Islamophobia here as we continue to urge employers, schools, media, government entities, and others to identify and address Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism wherever it may appear.
