Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust

Type: Private Family Foundation

Established by the late entrepreneur Newton Becker in 2006, the California-based Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust is a private, tax-exempt charitable foundation possessing millions in revenue. Between 2014 and 2016, the Trust poured more than $1.1 million into the Islamophobia Network, giving nearly $800,000 to the Middle East Media Research Institute, and over $300,000 to the innocuously named Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a neoconservative lobbying group founded with the goal of pushing an aggressive and Islamophobic “war on terror” policy in Washington D.C.
