Blogs dedicated to protecting America against terrorism are troubling the Muslim community. By S.I. ROSENBAUM Published January 16, 2006 It's 4 a.m. Somewhere near Coral Springs, Joe Kaufman is still at his computer.
Blurry with fatigue, he types:
It has been said that 80 percent of all the mosques ... inside the United States are ... tied to a radical form of Islam. ...
One of the American locations that ... influence has been prevalent is the Tampa-St. Pete area of Southwest Florida.
Kaufman is 35, clean-shaven, a lawyer's assistant. He goes inline skating and writes love songs on guitar. But his passion is his Web site, AmericansAgainstHate.com, where he monitors the activities of Florida's Muslim community, looking for terrorist links.
Kaufman's site is only one of a constellation of blogs with names like JihadWatch.com, MilitantIslamMonitor.org, and WesternResistance.com that are dedicated to the surveillance of American Muslims. The blogs link to one another, with more-traveled sites amplifying stories from more obscure ones, like Kaufman's.

Georgetown University was built with a Catholic and Jesuit identity. This bit of information is proudly displayed on the school's website. But like Bethlehem in Israel, that identity is quickly being lost to a radical strain of Islam, as a counter-terror symposium has been abandoned and a pro-terror conference has been confirmed. Indeed, one of America's most prestigious universities appears to be under siege.
Fearing violent reprisal from militant Muslim members of their student body, the school's conference center rejected an educational symposium being hosted by America's Truth Forum (formerly the People's Truth Forum), a non-partisan, fact-based organization whose sole mission is to educate the American people on topics of national security. In this case, the subject matter to be discussed involved the "Underlying Roots of Terrorism: The Radical Islamist Threat to World Peace and National Security." ( Full Article here.)

See Video The South Pinellas Chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State awarded its Orchids and Onions at its annual meeting Saturday, March 25. Americans United is a national organization that works to promote religious tolerance and the separation of church and state.
Orchids are given in recognition of work promoting the protection of the separation of church and religious tolerance. Two Orchids were awarded this year. Rebecca Steele, West Coast Director of the Florida ACLU was recognized for her efforts on behalf of protecting our civil liberties and for heading up the State ACLU's religious freedom campaign.
Ahmed Bedier, Director of the Central Florida Office of the Council on American - Islamic Relations was recognized for his courageous work promoting accuracy in the understanding of the Muslim community. Bedier has successfully worked to diffuse tense situations, often by personally talking with those disparaging the Muslim Community.
